This new 3-layer high-performance flat roof system was supplied and installed over an existing failing asphalt roof in Chelmsford, Essex. The stunning finish on this new flat felt roof (in a charcoal mineral finish) comes with a full 20-year guarantee.

Fitted using a blowtorch (amongst other tools!), a 3-layer felt roof system benefits from being more stable than the older methods used with felt roofs. Each layer is laid in a half-lap system, so any joint in the roof is as far away as possible from the next joint.

This is a versatile system when it comes to appearance. If you are looking for a more colourful finish, or something reflective, it’s easily achieved with this system.

The 3-layer torch-on felt roof system is also much more durable than older felt roof systems.

We recently had several ridge tiles slip at the front of our Victorian house, with one smashing on the ground, and were really keen to get it repaired before winter. We also needed some slipped tiles on other parts of the roof fixed as well as some vertical decorative tiles beneath a bay window. Because of the height of the house we needed scaffolding and also were keen to match the existing tiles. We contacted a few roofers to get a quote and Julian was one of the few to actually get back to us with a price. He was very busy and we had to chase a couple of times to pin down a date but the work itself was carried out well and the team were all friendly and efficient. It was great being able to talk to Julian and get advice and we were really pleased to be able to use a local company. We also appreciated Julian splitting out some of the bill where the cost work was being shared with our neighbour. It is a big relief to have everything sorted and we would definitely go straight to Julian for any repairs in the future.

Julian and his team at Keenan Roofing Ltd have just completed a re-roof of the rear and side elevations of our property. Despite the significant size, ultra low pitches, Velux and Dutch gables, he came up with a specialist tile solution which would keep us dry and allow us to once again relax when the weather turned sour… and believe me, it has certainly been put to the test this September! We could have settled for zinc or flat roof options, but maintaining the overall tile aesthetic of the building was important, and were other contractors raised eyebrows and steered us to their narrow comfort zone, Julian accepted the challenge, set about a plan and gave me a timely quote. Planning, execution and communication throughout were excellent. Once the scaffolding was up, the skip arrived, building control arrived, the new tiles arrived, old tiles went… In fact, other than answering the door each morning at 7:30am (they like an early start), we just sat back and let them get on with it. Couldn’t be more pleased with the results and experience and would happily recommend Keenan Roofing Ltd.

We highly recommend Julian Keenan and his excellent team for any roofing project. We have just had a large leaking roof in our old house with a complicated roof structure completely stripped back to rafters and renovated, upgrading insulation, repairing numerous lead valleys, replacing tiles where necessary and repointing chimneys. We had 8 roofing firms come to the house to quote for the job and Julian was the only one who actually quoted and was prepared to take us on! His communication was excellent, he stuck to the agreed quotation, was very clear and fair about when staged payments were due and did not ask for the final balance until all work was signed off by building control, scaffolding down, skip removed and they had done an amazing job of clearing up. His team (Tommy, Vernon, Duncan and Kiefer) were a pleasure to have around, arrived promptly every day, worked long hours in appalling weather through the winter, but remained polite and cheerful in spite of the challenges they faced. We have already recommended them to other people locally who noticed the work going on over the last few months. Outstanding experience and remarkably stress free given the size and duration of the project.
